India Announces $50 Billion in AI Innovation Incentives at VivaTech 2026
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a major appearance at VivaTech 2026 in Paris as the event's first-ever AI Country Partner. In his keynote, Modi pledged over $50 billion in incentives to support private innovation in India, from research to commercialization.
Modi promoted what he called an All Inclusive AI vision, highlighting India's digital public infrastructure (DPI) as a model for democratizing access to artificial intelligence. The country has been positioning itself as a global tech hub, with massive investments in AI startups and talent development.
India's participation at VivaTech reflects a broader strategy to establish itself as a key player in the global AI landscape, rivaling the United States and China. The country is already one of the world's largest developer markets and has seen explosive growth in the number of AI startups.
VivaTech 2026 runs from June 17 to 20 in Paris, gathering over 100,000 participants including Big Tech CEOs, startups and government leaders from around the world.
