Elastic, the company behind Elasticsearch, has agreed to acquire DeductiveAI for up to $85 million, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The startup uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect and fix bugs in software.

Founded in 2023, DeductiveAI emerged from stealth in November 2024 with a $7.5 million seed round led by CRV, with participation from Databricks Ventures, Thomvest Ventures, and PrimeSet. The investment valued the startup at $33 million.

The deal marks a quick exit for DeductiveAI, which operates in the fast-growing AI Site Reliability Engineering (AI SRE) space. The sector has been driven by the massive volume of AI-written code. Replacing manual debugging with AI allows human SREs to focus on product development instead of constantly fighting fires.

The acquisition reflects a broader trend: established tech companies racing to buy AI-native agent startups and integrate their capabilities into existing products. Elastic plans to use DeductiveAI's technology to enhance its observability platform, letting customers automatically monitor performance and resolve failures in real time.
